Pet Odor Removals
Most dogs and cats are well behaved, happy
and are diligent in using the litterbox or eliminating outside.
Most pets rarely if ever make a mess in the house.
But, it is against the odds to think (or
wish) that your dog or cat will NEVER have an accident. Pet
experts agree that an accident is bound to happen sooner or
later.
So. You know it is coming. Why not learn how
to deal with a pet urine stain and get the appropriate cleaners
so you are prepared when the time comes.
All pet owners should do this. But they
don't. Many will just hire a carpet cleaning company for their
pet odor removal.
We think that is a bit of a mistake. While
most companies will do pet odor removals, we would advice
against using steam to clean the pet urine as it can help to
set the smell into the carpet. Using a carpet cleaner can also
be quite costly.
Many companies will add on a number of
charges such as a trip fee, or charging extra for gas. This is
becoming more common as our gas prices have increased. Many
companies have a minimum order, and some will charge for a full
room when cleaning a 4X4 hallway. It pays to get all facts
prior to hiring a company.
Remember that the cleaner gets a commission
and will be selling their services once in your home, wanting
to clean upholstery, other rooms etc.
One option is to rent a carpet cleaner at
your local hardware store and use a detergent specially to
remove pet odors. That could be OK if the entire carpet needs
to be cleaned.
The best option in our opinion is to use a
spot cleaner designed to remove pet urine and it's odor.
When urine has soaked into the pad of the carpet, or into
cushions or mattresses a cleaner that does not need rinsing is
your best option.
Anti Icky Poo is a cleaner that gets the
best reviews. it is extremely efficient at cleaning dog and cat
urine odors even from furniture and carpets when the urine has
soaked in.
