Cat urine smell is probably one of the more unpleasant smells we can encounter. It is strong and it tends to come and go... the first thought to arrive in your mind is probably "How do I get rid of cat urine smell in my house?"

How To Get Cat Urine Smell Out Of Your House

If the urine smell is on linoleum or other non porous surface you MAY be able to remove the urine stain by some diligent scrubbing.

Baking Soda And Urine Removal

Baking soda is well known to remove cat urine stains. It has been the most well known home remedies for pet odors for decades, but quite frankly, it does not really work that well. It may remove some of the smell, but frequently the urine smell comes back if there is a bit of dampness in the air.

Baking soda is also not effective on removing the cat urine odor when the urine has soaked into items that are hard to rinse, or hard to get to such as urine soaked into a mattress or a sofa, or when urine has soaked into the padding of your carpet.

Vinegar and Cat Urine Smell

Vinegar is another "home remedy for pet urine". Vinegar is not something we would recommend to remove pet odors. It is highly ineffective and as with the baking soda, not useful to clean furniture or upholstery.

The best way to get rid of the smell of cat urine is to puchase a product especially designed to remove pet urine odors. There are several on the market and they do a good job. We especially recommend "Anti Icky Poo" and Nature's Miracle.
